Crop market trends
The South African maize future prices traded mixed this week; the soya bean spot price decreased marginally by 0.2% and the sunflower seed spot price increased by 0.3% week on week.

It is currently quiet on the lemon market. The South African season has already finished and people are looking back on record export figures this year.
While few traders wish to go on record, many agree: it’s been a memorably bad season for South African citrus in Russia – even “horrific”, in the opinion of an experienced trader.
South Africa`s production of apples, pears and table grapes is forecast to grow in the 2019/20 MY, based on available irrigation water following improved 2019 winter rainfall, normal weather conditions, and new orchards coming into full production.
The revenue of the market for concentrated lemon and lime juice worldwide amounted to $591M in 2018.
China and Russia stood out as the more difficult markets of the 2019 citrus season, says Snyman Kritzinger of Grown4U, a grower-exporter of citrus from the Sundays River and Gamtoos valleys in the Eastern Cape.
