  • As you already know-Farmers will be able to start applying next week to vaccinate their own livestock against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). That’s according to Friedl von Maltitz, vice president of Free State Agriculture (VL), following an announcement on Thursday by Willie Aucamp, the new Minister of Agriculture. .
  • The news and opinions we publish do not necessarily reflect our own views. Our media platform is committed to delivering factual reporting on farming, agriculture, and general news. Our stories are shared across all our social media platforms."
  • Africa's rural areas are the heart of the continent—home to 57% of people in Sub-Saharan Africa and over 80% of the poorest. They're packed with talent and resources, but stuck in low-growth loops. The African Development Bank sees 3.5% regional growth in 2025, maybe 4% by 2026-27, if we fix rural issues.
  • A settlement agreement between the Department of Agriculture, Free State Agriculture, SAAI, and Sakeliga paves the way for the private import and administration of (FMD) vaccine and ends the state's monopoly on the process. “We reached this settlement because we spoke with each other, not about each other,”said Willie Aucamp, the new Minister of Agriculture.
