- Africa has about 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, yet the continent spends billions of dollars every year importing food that can be produced locally. From rice and wheat to vegetable oils and processed foods, many African countries continue to rely on external markets while millions of young people remain unemployed and millions of farmers struggle to earn a decent income.
